Halite rock salt is a natural mineral ice melt that combines affordability with reliable winter performance. Most effective above 20F and functional down to approximately 5F, it works faster than potassium chloride and urea while remaining the most economical choice for de-icing. The blend of small and large crystals delivers dual benefits: immediate melting action paired with extended effectiveness. Beyond melting, the crystalline structure provides essential traction on slippery surfaces. Note that rock salt can be harsh on concrete, vegetation, and landscaping, making application strategy important for property protection.
